What's a Swale and Do you NEED one?
Swale and do you need one ?
Swale
As it is central to life on Earth, so water is of crucial importance to the permaculture plot, providing the plants, livestock and wildlife with an essential element for their survival and growth. Water is also a finite resource. It is precious and should be treated as such.
Therefore, permaculture design seeks to preserve and use water in the most sustainable and efficient ways. READ MORE .......

Plants and trees are more alive and social than we could ever imagine. There is scientific evidence that trees from a more abundant area can send nutrition to their neighbour trees who aren't luckily situated. Mutualism is not something only animal species are capable of. If we will only study trees closely, we can tell that they are not as immobile as they seem to be. They can be really mysterious. The ones who have been around for decades must be the keeper of all their secrets as well as where they go when they die.

thesis you are totally correct and Peter Wohlleben in his book The Hidden Life of Trees says, “trees are sophisticated organisms that live in families, support their sick neighbours, and have the capacity to make decisions and fight off predators.”
It is a truly fascinating book and he even goes on to say that small trees are suckled by the mothers who feed the young tree just enough sugars produced by their own photosynthesis to keep it from dying.
We have only scratched the surface of knowing about trees and in fact soil life also.
